Direct Vent

Direct vent fireplaces draw combustion air from the outdoors and exhaust their combustion products to the outdoors—eliminating the need for a chimney. The combustion system should be sealed from the living area to assure high air quality, maximum efficiency and trouble-free operation in today's tightly insulated homes.

Mendota's sealed combustion, direct vent system draws air for combustion from outside the home into a sealed firebox. Exhaust is expelled through a separate vent. Room air is heated and recirculated. The system keeps warm air in and cold air out.

Mendota's Versiheat Technology

Mendota's exclusive Versiheat technology moves heat from your fireplace to other areas in your home. Mendota fireplaces have connections for two Versiheat kits to allow the transfer of heat to two other areas. Heat is moved through ducts with their own blowers and thermostats. This optional system provides heat to more than one room and moves unwanted heat out of the fireplace.

Vent-Free

Another industry option is vent-free, ventless or unvented gas fireplaces. This kind of fireplace is designed to draw and expel combustion gasses and moisture directly into the room. While some manufacturers claim that vent-free fireplaces burn hot enough for complete fuel combustion, we've found that carbon monoxide gasses can still linger in your living area. At Mendota, we do not manufacture this type of gas fireplace. In fact, fireplaces and stoves without proper ventilation are illegal in many states and municipalities.

Fuel Options

You Choose Natural Gas or Propane

Almost 70% of today's hearth products burn gas.* Gas fireplaces have convenient optional features that allow you to have a beautiful fire at the touch of a switch, thermostat or even a remote control. All Mendota gas fireplaces, gas fireplace inserts and gas stoves can burn natural gas or be converted to burn propane (LP). Make sure to notify your Authorized Mendota Dealer prior to ordering if your home requires LP gas appliances.

Gas Fireplace Insert

If you would like to enhance the look and feel of an existing fireplace, choose a gas fireplace insert. A fireplace insert is an insulated, closed-door system that slows the fire down and increases the temperature of the fire to facilitate more complete combustion. This closed combustion system uses 100% outside air, preserving indoor air quality and maximizing efficiency. In fact, a gas fireplace produces less than 1% of the harmful particulate emissions of woodburning fireplaces.

Mendota's inserts turn an occasional source of heat into an easy-to-use room centerpiece. Fireplace inserts are made from cast iron or steel with glass doors. So you can watch the dancing flames while increasing the efficiency rating of your fireplace.

Gas Fireplace Unit

You will be amazed at how the flames of a gas fireplace look and perform like real wood, without the mess and fumes. A gas fireplace is a factory-built firebox complete with a glass face for viewing the fire. These hearth products are designed for aesthetic and decorative use, as well as for multiple-room zone heating. Mendota gas fireplaces maintain some of the highest efficiencies in the industry—up to 86.4%.
